Sometimes, detoxing from foods can feel almost like withdrawl. In these instances, it’s best to use natural remedies for support, since a medication will only tax your already compromised system. Teas are a wonderful way to ingest herbs that support your cleansing process. 

NETTLES TEA 

Stinging nettle leaves contain natural antihistamines that help relieve hay fever and allergy symptoms. The herb also contains protein and calcium as well as vitamins and minerals. 

Yield: One serving   

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon dried nettle leaves  
1 cup boiling water 

Pour water over nettle leaves and allow to steep, covered, for several minutes. Strain and serve. Add lemon and honey to taste if desired.  

May also be steeped overnight, strained and served chilled.  

WITHDRAWL RELIEF TEA 

This tea formula addresses the multiple tasks of treating withdrawal: cleansing drug residue from the body, stabilizing blood sugar levels, and relieving anxiety. You can customize the formula by substituting any herbs you’ve found to work better for you.

Yield: 4 cups 

4 cups water 
1 ½ teaspoons burdock root 
1 teaspoon fennel seeds 
1 teaspoon  oat seed or oat straw 
1 teaspoon skullcap herb 

Bring the water to a boil. Add the burdock root, reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add remaining herbs. Cover and let steep 10 minutes. Strain.  
Drink one cup. Store leftovers in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to three days.

PISTACHIO/COCONUT STUFFED DATES

Yield: 16 servings  

Equipment 
Food processor  

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup pistachios, shelled  
16 Medjool dates, pitted 
pinch unrefined salt 
2 tablespoons shredded coconut, unsweetened    

In a food processor, process pistachios until a thick paste forms, about 5 minutes. Season with salt. Spoon mixture into dates. Top with coconut.
